To report a problem, say which device you're using and the ForjPDF version (on a Mac: ForjPDF › About ForjPDF). If one document shows the problem and isn't private, attaching it helps a lot.

Common questions

How do I sign a document?

Mac: click Sign in the toolbar (or press ⌃⌘S) to open the Signatures panel, choose New Signature to draw, type or photograph it, then click the page where it goes. Drag it to move it, a corner to resize it, and the knob above it to turn it.

iPhone and iPad: tap the signature tool, pick or make a signature, then tap the page.

Can I use the same signatures and stamps on my Mac, iPhone and iPad?

Yes. On the Mac they're kept in iCloud Drive › ForjPDF. On an iPhone or iPad, open the Signatures or Stamps panel, choose Use the Ones on Your Mac… and pick that ForjPDF folder (or iCloud Drive itself). You do this once on each device.

How do I fill in a form?

Click or tap a field. On iPhone and iPad you type in a small sheet: the ↑ and ↓ buttons (or Return, or Tab on a keyboard) move to the previous or next field. Checkboxes and choices work with one tap.

How do I make a fillable form?

From scratch: File › New Form… on the Mac, or ••• › New Form… on iPhone and iPad. Add the questions and ForjPDF lays out the pages. To change it later, open it and choose Edit in Form Builder….

From a paper or flat form: choose Edit Form Fields (Annotate menu on the Mac, ••• on iPhone and iPad), then the wand to Detect Fields. ForjPDF finds the lines, boxes, checkboxes, circles and dropdowns and names each after its label. For a scanned form, run Recognize Text first so the fields get names.

Collecting answers: open the form, choose Collect Responses…, and add the copies people sent back. You get a table you can save for Numbers or Excel.

How do I add page numbers or Bates numbers?

Page › Header & Footer… on the Mac, or ••• › Header & Footer… on iPhone and iPad. Type into any of the six places and use Insert for the page number, the date, the file name or a Bates number. For many files at once, use Batch… (File menu on the Mac, ••• on iPhone and iPad).

How do I remove a password from a PDF?

Open it with its password, then choose File › Remove Password on the Mac, or ••• › Remove Password on iPhone and iPad, and save. If the document's owner restricted editing, ForjPDF asks for the owner password first.

Where are my documents stored?

Wherever you keep them: ForjPDF opens and saves files in the places you choose, such as your device or iCloud Drive. Nothing is uploaded to us; see the privacy policy.

How do I update the Mac version?

ForjPDF checks for updates by itself. To check now, choose ForjPDF › Check for Updates…. The iPhone and iPad version updates through the App Store.

Is there a Windows version?

Not yet. It's in the works, built on the same engine, so documents will look and behave the same on both.
